Using the Gelfand-Naimark theorem and Berntzen's results on normal spectral approximation [\textit{R.\,Berntzen}, Rend.\ Circ.\ Mat.\ Palermo, II.\ Ser.\ 45, No.\,1, 9--18 (1996; Zbl 0851.46039)], the author states known results concerning positive approximants, unitary and partially isometric approximants and commutator approximants for \(C^*\)-algebras and von Neumann algebras.
