An Apollonian circle packing arises in the following way: place two congruent circles inside and tangent to a given third circle, place in the two curvilinear triangles one circle as large as possible and repeat the construction in each new formed curvilinear triangle. In the present paper this construction is generalized by packing not one but three circles within each curvilinear triangle -- thus arises a generalized Apollonian packing. The authors show that many of the properties of the standard Apollonian packing are transferable onto such generalized Apollonian packings.
