This paper provides an expression for operator valued polynomials from which the classical Christoffel-Darboux formula for orthogonal polynomials can be directly derived. The main tool used is the Schur complement. In some other cases this general expression reduces to Christoffel-Darboux type formulas. Some existing results are refined. These new results are useful for studying projection operators.
