The authors establish several results about fuzzy relation equations with a max-\(*\) composition, \(``*"\) being an operator which extends min and prod in similar equations studied by \textit{C. Zhang, C. Lu} and \textit{D. Li} [J. Fuzzy Math. 14, No.~1, 53--63 (2006; Zbl 1105.03055)]. Systems of equations and solution-invariant matrices are also studied.
