Summary: We study a free boundary problem describing a melting process by using induction heating. The mathematical model in one-space dimension consists of a coupled-parabolic system in each phase along with a non-equilibrium kinetic condition on the interface. By applying an energy estimate and a Campanato type of estimates, it is shown that the problem has a unique classical solution globally.
