This dataset comprises detailed simulations of electromagnetic scattering properties of snowflakes, generated using J. Leinonen's aggregation model (https://github.com/jleinonen/aggregation). The model is described in: Leinonen, J., andSzyrmer, W. (2015),Radar signatures of snowflake riming: A modeling study,Earth and Space Science,2,346 358, doi:10.1002/2015EA000102.The snowflake structures are represented as 3D dipole arrangements, with each file containing attributes such as mass and particle dimensions. Electromagnetic scattering properties were computed using the ADDA software, configured for vertically pointing radar with particles rotated around the vertical axis. The output includes the Mueller matrix, scattering, and extinction cross-section values across various common radar frequencies. Simulation results are stored in text files, which can be easily linked to the corresponding snowflake structure files by filename.
