Abstract: For any positive integer m, let mathbbZm be the set of residue classes modulo m. For AsubseteqmathbbZm and overlineninmathbbZm, let representation function RA(overlinen) denote the number of solutions of the equation overlinen=overlinea+overlinea with ordered pairs (overlinea,overlinea)inAimesA. In this paper, we determine all sets A,BsubseteqmathbbZm with AcupB=mathbbZm and |AcapB|=2 or m2 such that RA(overlinen)=RB(overlinen) for all overlineninmathbbZm. We also prove that if m is a positive integer with 4|m, then there exist two distinct sets A,BsubseteqmathbbZm with AcupB=mathbbZm and |AcapB|=4 or m4, BeqA+overlinefracm2 such that RA(overlinen)=RB(overlinen) for all overlineninmathbbZm. If m is a positive integer with 2|m, AcupB=mathbbZm and |AcapB|=4 or m4, then RA(overlinen)=RB(overlinen) for all overlineninmathbbZm if and only if B=A+overlinefracm2.
