The paper aims at developing a `particle in cell' (PIC) method for solving a paraxial model of highly relativistic beams; certain numerical schemes, with error estimates, are presented, and a well adapted particle approach is used to contruct the PIC method. Finally, numerical illustrations are made, making comparisons with the Vlasov-Poisson model. The paper may be of interest to someone working on numerical solutions of Vlasov-Maxwell problem.
