One considers semistable torsion-free sheaves with zero Chern classes. By reduction mod p and purely inseparable descent, and assuming boundedness, it is proven that on a complete homogeneous space under a reductive algebraic group such sheaves are trivial and on an abelian variety they are filtered by line bundles numerically equivalent to zero. Several applications and remarks are made.
