The equilibrium state of a flexible pendulum (Q1082096)

Pendulums with oscillating base motion have been the subject of many investigations. Recently \textit{B. A. Schmidt} [J. Appl. Mech. 50, 443-448 (1983; Zbl 0527.70026)] considered a radially flexible pendulum subjected to a small-amplitude and high-frequency harmonic excitation. However the solutions were approximate. In this paper the restriction that the harmonic excitation is of small-amplitude and high-freqency is abandoned and the solutions are given analytically.
