A model of an unreliable two-station production line with an interstation buffer storage and continuous material flow is presented. Differential equations and boundary equations are found to determine the steady-state probabilities. The differential equations are solved analytically. Closed-form expressions are developed for the system availability and expected level of buffer. Limiting behaviour of production rate and expected level of the buffer for balanced and unbalanced cases are observed.
