Two approaches to the continuous (with respect to system parameters) measures of controllability, observability and irreducibility are proposed: 1) on the basis of the controllability/observability gramians, 2) on the basis of ''virtual'' pole-zero cancellations or, more precisely, on the basis of the distance between the system poles and the zeros of transfer functions \(G_{ij}(s)\). Advantages and disadvantages of the measures are discussed.
