The relative dimension of a probabilistic experiment \({\mathcal A}\) with respect to another probabilistic experiment \({\mathcal B}\) is defined. It unifies some global indicators originating from information theory. On the other hand, it contains, as a special case, Mandelbrot's variant of the ''fractal'' Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension, which was introduced initially without any connection with information theory.
