Certain linear equations are considered relating derivatives of a function at any point x with its derivatives at \(x+1\). It is shown that under suitable conditions, for large enough n there is a unique solution which coincides with a polynomial of degree n on (0,1) and satisfies certain smoothness conditions. Moreover as \(n\to \infty\), this solution converges to an entire function satisfying the equation. A related conjecture is made concerning an interesting nonlinear difference equation.
