In the preceding three parts [ibid. 51, 179-190 (1984; Zbl 0547.05021), ibid. 51, 277-282 (1984; Zbl 0547.05022), and ibid. 58, 275-283 (1986; Zbl 0594.05020)] the first two authors have studied generalized Moore geometries with diameter larger than 5. This paper deals with diameter \(4: GM_ 4(s,t,s+1)\), with \(st>1\), do not exist.
