The author obtains exact solutions of problem of finite amplitude, uniaxial motion of a mass suspended from, or supported by, a rubber spring made of Mooney-Rivlin material. Solutions are given in terms of general elliptic integrals and other special functions, and are displayed in graphical form. Comparisons are made with solutions of similar problems in which the spring is composed of neo-Hookean material. This is a clearly written paper of value to students and researchers in the field of mechanical behavior of rubber-like elastic materials and structures undergoing large deformations.
