The paper examines propagation of plane longitudinal waves on the plane surface separating two liquid inviscid elastic media with diatomic microstructures. After establishing the constitutive equations of the four constituents, equations of motion are solved by appeal to four quasi-potential functions. Fulfillment of the conditions of a perfect contact at the interface provides the characteristic equation of the problem which, in contrast to the conventional solution and in agreement with seismological observations, indicates the dispersion of the Stoneley waves. An example involving relaxed bonds between the constituent media is analyzed in more detail and illustrated by a graph.
