We introduce and characterize the concept of fuzzy irresolute functions which is strictly stronger than the concept of fuzzy semi-continuous functions and independent of the concept of fuzzy continuous functions. The independence of the two definitions of fuzzy almost open functions as introduced and some of their characterizations are also established.
