The author considers the convergence of collocation (with globally defined functions) in \(L_ p\) spaces as applied to uniformly elliptic boundary value problems. A stability estimate reduces the convergence problem to the investigation of norms of projection operators and to the study of approximation properties. For the latter, known results are compiled whereas norms of some special projection operators are calculated both analytically and numerically.
