A family of linear state equations \({\mathcal L}(h)\omega =q\) in a Banach space is considered. Where the linear, invertible operator \({\mathcal L}(h)\) depends on a (possibly functional) parameter h. A simple formula on sensitivity of \(\omega\) with respect to h is given. The appliation of this formula to design of mechanical structures is suggested and illustrated by some simple examples.
