The paper is concerned with the construction of bounds for the spectrum of a matrix pencil \(A-\nu B\), where \(B\) is some sparse block approximate factorization of the Stieltjes matrix \(A\) (or almost Stieltjes matrix). Some examples are analyzed to illustrate the theoretical results.
