The ABS algorithm for the solution for solving systems of nonlinear equations in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) was introduced by \textit{J. Abaffy}, \textit{A. Galántai} and \textit{E. Spedicato} [Numer. Math. 51, 429-439 (1987; Zbl 0609.65038)] and its convergence has been studied by these and other authors. The present note shows that one of the conditions occurring in all these convergence proofs can be weakened.
