The problem discussed is a class of boundary integral equations on the circle. The authors present a collocation method which has the same order of accuracy as the corresponding Petrov-Galerkin method. The increased accuracy over the usual collocation methods is obtained by the use of a more accurate quadrature for the source term. The proofs of the error estimates are based on a careful analysis of the singular part of the integral, with treatment of the rest of the kernel by a perturbation argument.
