It is the purpose of this paper to present a detailed design procedure for the important special case that the local constraints consist of the prescription of the value of the frequency response and a number of derivatives for zero frequency and that weighted \(L_ 2\)-approximation is desired as global constraint. This problem arises, for example, in the discrete simulation of multidimensional continuous systems that are described by partial differential equations.
