A detailed numerical solution describing flow and heat transfer characteristics of a fully-developed pulsating flow in a strongly curved pipe is presented. Using a toroidal coordinate system, the complete time- dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes and energy equations are formulated in non-dimensional form. These equations are then solved numerically using the concept of pseudo-time along with the introduction of the coefficient of artificial compressibility. Particular attention is paid to heat transfer properties over substantially extended parameter ranges of the Reynolds and Womersley numbers. The time variations of flow and heat transfer characteristics such as secondary flows, thermal field, and local and average Nusselt numbers are presented graphically. The paper is well written and presented in a very clear form. It should be of interest to researchers concerned with the physics of this challenging problem.
