The author proves a geometric condition for a Riemannian spin manifold to admit twistor spinors. Furthermore, she considers several problems concerning zeros of twistor spinors: she studies zeros of twistor spinors on manifolds with parallel Ricci tensor, she derives a condition for the completeness of the conformally deformed metric defined by a twistor spinor on the complement of the zero set of this spinor and she studies the properties of the conformal vector field which is associated with a twistor spinor.
