Given a nonassociative algebra \(A\), the author calls any identity involving only those multilinear monomials in \(k\) variables \(x_ 1, \dots, x_ k\) which preserve the ordering of the variables a shape identity of the algebra. Among other results it is shown that every genetic algebra satisfies nontrivial shape identities. Furthermore, all shape identities satisfied by gametic algebras are determined.
