The objective is to provide a rigorous solution to the problem of an elastically lined hole in a half-space in the context of torsional axial symmetry. There is only one component of displacement -- the circumferential one, \(v\) -- and two shear stresses \(\sigma_{r\theta}\) and \(\sigma_{\theta z}\). Further, field quantities are independent of angular position with respect to the axis of symmetry. No approximation is made regarding the thickness of the lining; the solution is general enough to accommodate any thickness of the lining comparable with the radius of the hole.
