The use of spline-on-spline approximations to estimate Cauchy principal value integrals and their derivatives is discussed. Better results than those obtained by differentiating traditional single spline approximations might be expected. Unfortunately, the proofs of convergence (Theorems 3.2, 3.3) appear to be flawed because of the assumption of condition (3.4), since, as printed, this cannot be satisfied except trivially.
