Most of the contents of this article are the survey of some results on components of the parameter space of the versal deformation family of an isolated singularity. More precisely, they are the survey of the author's research group on the case of singularities with dimension one or two and with codimension greater than one. Besides, the author states that he has found by computer calculation with software ``Macaulay'' that the singularity at the origin of fourteen general lines through the origin in \(\mathbb{C}^6\) has sixteen smoothing components. A component of the parameter space of the versal deformation of a singularity is called a smoothing component, if the fiber over a general point on it is smooth.
