The authors give a new proof that the \(q\)-binomial coefficient (Gaussian polynomial) is the weight (polynomial generating function) of the restricted (limited in number of size of summands) \(k\)-rowed plane partitions. Their proof uses specific representations of the coalgebra structure of \(s\ell_q(2,\mathbb{C})\) acting on a Hilbert space.
