The self-consistent effective binary diffusion approximation for multicomponent diffusion in gas mixtures is revisited. The authors show that new formulation provides then a rational basis for determining the weighting factors \(w_i\). The accuracy of the new weighting factors is tested by numerical calculations for several arbitrary mixtures.
