It is proven that the Higson corona \(\nu X\) of a metric space \(X\) has the following feature of the remainder of the Stone-Čech compactification \(\beta X\smallsetminus X\) : the closure of a \(\sigma\)-compact set \(A\subset\nu X\) is homeomorphic to \(\beta A\).
