In the paper it is proven that the Schrödinger flow which is mapped from a closed Riemannian surface into a compact irreducible Hermitian symmetric space admits a global weak solution. Also the existence of solutions of the initial value problem for the Heisenberg model restricted to models with Lie algebra values is shown, which is connected to the Schrödinger flow on compact Hermitian spaces and also to the Da Rios equation. However the uniqueness of the solution is still open. See also \textit{H. Wang}, Contemp. Math. 309, 313--324 (2002; Zbl 1038.58044).
