The author considers a model of spatial adjustments of economic agents across perfectly competitive locations distributed along a continuous geographical space. He shows that the spatial stability of the uniform steady-state depends on crucially on whether the law of demand holds. Therefore, just like in the tatonnement stability literature, restrictions have to be placed on the primitives of the economy if spatial convergence is to be obtained.
