The main result of this paper relates the existence of a periodic orbit to a certain Hamiltonian flow, generated by a Hamiltonian whose differential is compactly supported. If this Hamiltonian is autonomous, separates the zero section and the section corresponding to the 1-form \(dt\) and has a compactly supported gradient, then it has a nonconstant closed orbit in each of a given homotopy class of loops.
