This paper deals with the influence of the discretization with respect to time on nonlinear effects in evolution boundary value problems. Examples from heat conduction theory are given to illustrate the following cases: (a) the effect is preserved in the discretized problem; (b) the effect is preserved under additional assumptions; (c) the effect is modified; (d) the effect disappears.
