The author obtains fixed point theorems for maps satisfying Meir-Keeler type conditions in metric and probabilistic analysis. These results are applied to show the existence of a unique solution of a system of random operator equations. Most of the results of this paper are extensions of those of \textit{Y. J. Cho, K. S. Ha} and \textit{S.-S. Chang} [Math. Jap. 46, No. 1, 169-179 (1997; Zbl 0888.47038)].
