This paper deals with ray patterns, sets of matrices in which each matrix entry is independently specified as 0 or as a product of a certain complex number times all positive real numbers, hence a ray. Irreducible nonzero ray patterns such that \(A^{k+1}=A\) up to similarity by permutations and diagonal matrices are classified in Theorem 10 as being a root of unity times a block circulant in which all the blocks are real.
