The so-called Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model is used to represent complex nonlinear systems by a set of fuzzy rules of which the consequent parts are linear state equations. The complex nonlinear plant is then defined as a weighted sum of these linear state equations. Generally this TS fuzzy plant model is combined with fuzzy logic controllers (FLC). Here a new FLC is proposed for TS fuzzy model based systems, which avoids having highly nonlinear closed-loop systems and large numbers of fuzzy sub-systems. The TS fuzzy model is firstly reviewed, then the FLC is detailed, and lastly application examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the method.
