\textit{K. Yoshikawa} [Osaka J. Math. 31, No. 3, 497-522 (1994; Zbl 0861.57033)] introduced a method to describe a surface-link by a ch-graph, i.e. by a simple plane graph labeled by the symbols \(\pm, 1\pm, \alpha +, \alpha-,\alpha\), where \(\alpha\in \mathbb{Z}\). In the paper under review the author classifies the surface-links corresponding to the ch-graphs of square-type.
