The concept of R-quadratic Finsler metric is important in physics and was introduced in the paper [\textit{Z. Shen}, Publ. Math. 58, No. 1--2, 263--274 (2001; Zbl 0973.53058)]. In this paper the author gives some theorems of characterization for the R-quadratic, W-quadratic and Ricci-quadratic spherically symmetric Finsler metrics on \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\). The W-quadratic and Ricci-quadratic metrics are geometrical concepts weaker than R-quadratic metrics.
