Five levels of the mathematical discourse are considered; four of them belong to the semantic aspects, while the last one is related to syntactics. These levels are then interpreted in terms of teaching elementary geometry. The whole approach tries to find out the right balance between concrete and abstract, informal and formal, the everyday language and the axiomatic-deductive approach.
