This article is of interest to the ``Mathematical Tourist''. The main person is Adolph Zeising (1810--1876) who lived in Bernburg. He was professor for philosophy and other subjects at the Karls-Gymnasium and belonged to the liberal left during the German revolution 1848/49. Zeising was elected to the first Landtag which met in the castle of Bernburg. Zeising was an adherent of Hegelian philosophy and was mainly interested in philosophy, aesthetics and politics. He was the one who first started the golden number myth which was later applied to the great Pyramids by Friedrich Röber, to phyllotaxis and so on.
