An extension of the method of \textit{R. D. Russell} and \textit{J. Christiansen} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 15, 59-80 (1978; Zbl 0384.65038)] is presented for the solution of ordinary differential equations using a parallel chopping algorithm: Experiments on three problems with boundary and turning layers show that this algorithm can be more efficient than using the spline collocation code COLNEW directly.
