The general solutions to two problems are presented. In part I the authors treat the decomposition of a given resultant rotation into three consecutive rotations about given axes. The subject of part II is the more general problem of decomposition of a finite screw displacement into three consecutive screw displacements about given screw axes. The solution to the screw displacement problem is obtained from the solution to the rotation problem by a simple application of the correspondence principle of Kotelnikov. Therefore, only the rotation problem has to be analyzed in detail.
