The author studies the structure of locally finite Lie algebras over fields of characteristic zero that have a weight space decomposition with respect to a maximal Abelian subalgebra. The main aim is to extend results from finite-dimensional complex Lie algebras to this setting. See also the review of the author's thesis (Shaker 1999) in Zbl 0931.17001.
