The authors employ the standard spectral methods (fast Fourier transform) for the spatial discretization of the equations while for the time integration they use a three-level difference scheme with a free parameter \(\theta\) for the linear terms and leapfrog scheme for the nonlinear terms. Therefore solving the nonlinear algebraic equations is avoided. Excellent results of numerical experiments for the KP and the ZK equations are showed.
