The authors study the difference equation \[ \Delta(q_n\Delta x_n)= 0,\tag{\(*\)} \] where \((q_n)\) is a positive sequence and \(f_n\) is \(X\)-valued with \(X\) a Banach space. Conditions are found such that for \(x\in X\) there exists a solution of \((*)\) asymptotically equal to \(x\).
