The order star diagram devised by \textit{G. Wanner, E. Hairer}, and \textit{S. P. Nørsett} [BIT 18, 475-489 (1978; Zbl 0444.65039)] is useful in the study of stability of discrete numerical algorithms especially \(A\)-stability of implicit Runge-Kutta methods. The authors describe the diagram in detail and discuss its many past and ongoing applications.
